GBS is highly experiencedin social studies, since almost every GBS project has a public opinion survey component. GBS has accumulated extensive professional expertise on various studies related to social assessment. Commissioned by public and private organizations, as well as IFIs, GBS has conducted a dozen of surveys in Central Asia over the last years. These surveys have been highly appreciated by clients. These projects include ADB funded Land Improvement Project, EBRD funded Tashkent Water Improvement Project, World Bank, and WHO Noncommunicable Disease Risk Factors Survey within the “Health-3” Project, etc.

The World Bank’s STEPS Noncommunicable Disease Risk Factors Survey within the “Health-3” Project: The questionnaire and interviewing of 4320 respondents throughout the country, the processing of collected data by the statistical software EPI INFO and the preparation of an analysis report.
The ADB’s Land Improvement Project: The survey of rural households (farming and dehkan) with the aim of gathering data on rural households’ performance in Bukhara, Navoi, and Kashkadarya regions. The project included field interviewing of respondents. Field interview findings were summarized in an analysis report.
The World Bank’s Analysis of Water Supply and Sewerage Services in Central Asia: Challenges and Outlook: The quality assessment of water supply and sanitation services in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The work performed under the project resulted in gathering survey materials and data on the above four countries. The data collected were then processed by MS Excel and IBM SPSS Statistics application software. The data analysis results were summarized in an analysis report.
The SECO’s Syrdarya Water Supply Project – Corporate Development Plans and Targeted Regulatory Reform Measures for Water Utilities in Uzbekistan: One of the Project assignments was the survey of households in Syrdarya and Bukhara regions, and the city of Samarkand. The data analysis results were summarized in an analysis report.
The EBRD’s Southern Tajikistan Water Rehabilitation Project – Corporate Development and Stakeholder Participation Programme: The Project included the sociological survey of households in three project sites, cities of Kulyab, Dangara, and Kurgan-Tyube, by representative selection (respondents of the surveyed households aged 10 and older). Within the survey, there were organized public consultations and discussions in focus groups and campaigns to raise the awareness about the survey. The data analysis results were summarized in an analysis report.
The EBRD’s Khujand Water – Financial and Operational Performance Improvement Programme (FOPIP): The sociological survey of household members in the city of Khujand included the questioning and interviewing of relevant respondents. The data analysis results were summarized in an analysis report.
The IDB’s Institution and Capacity Building for the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan: The survey to assess the demand for training financial and accounting personnel of state-financed organisations in Uzbekistan was organized. Within the survey, there were questioned and interviewed 21000 healthcare and education employees. The statistical analysis of the data collected resulted in an analysis report.
